Twenty four years ago, our daughter Jessica was born at Indiana University Medical Center. She was a 23 week premie and weighed one pound and 13 ounces. We met Kristen when Jess was recovering from her premature birth. Despite my training as an educator of special needs children, I was ” a mess” when it came to parenting my own very special little gal. Kristen guided our entire family through each developmental stage. We followed her direction often calling for affirmation or correction. We credit Kristen with Jess’s amazing development. Yes, Jessica has special needs. But, despite her struggles, she has matured into a wonderful young woman!! We commuted to Indianapolis three times weekly from Muncie, Indiana. It was aproximately an hour and fifteen minute commute. Kristen always saved her last appointment for our family. Initially, Jessica attended therapy “kick’n and scream’n!” But, with time and Kristen’s patience, Jessica began to enjoy the opportunity to develop skills that were beyond prediction. Today, she works at the public library, takes public transportation anywhere she desires to go, and leads a full and productive life!! Additionally, thanks to Kristen’s early training and guidance, Jessica is an olympian. She is part of Team USA as a participant in the Special Olympics World Games scheduled for late June and early July in Athens, Greece. She is a member of the equestrian team…one of eleven athletes from across the country!!! Words cannot express the incredible appreciation our family has for Kristen and her commitment to pediatric therapy services. She was a pioneer in NDT training and became nationally known for her clinical expertise!! Additionally, she became our friend…for this I will always be eternally gratefull!!!
