SESSION:
Developmental Therapists (other therapists may attend but content will be at a basic level)
When:
Mon, August 24 & Tue, August 25,  8:30 am  – 4:30 pm

Description: This two-day intensive workshop, presented and developed by UTS Partners, is designed for developmental therapists to enhance their ability to positively impact physical and social-emotional development in order to assist children and their families in reaching developmental outcomes in the Individualized Family Service Plan. Workshop activities will include video presentations, class discussions, lab sessions, and group problem-solving activities. These activities are designed to assist participants in expanding knowledge, understanding, and intervention skills needed to effectively provide services for infants and toddlers with neuromotor dysfunction. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably for lab sessions and to bring a 30 doll soft doll to the workshop.

SESSION 1:
Using Balls and Bolsters to Help Kids Learn Better Balance
When:
Thu, August 27, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Description: This one-day workshop is designed for physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, and certified occupational therapy assistants who want to enhance their handling skills in using moveable surfaces to facilitate improved postural control skills in the children they treat. The workshop will involve lecture, discussion, video presentations, and lab sessions with fellow participants. Movement labs will be utilized to analyze normal alignment and postural reactions, to learn how to facilitate weight shift for balance reactions on moveable surfaces, and develop treatment strategies. Large gymnastic balls and bolsters will be used during the labs, so comfortable clothing is recommended for participants.

SESSION 2 & 3:
Optimizing Treatment of the School-Age Child with Neuromotor Dysfunction
When:
Fri, August 28, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Sat, August 29, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Description: This 2-day workshop is designed for pediatric physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, certified occupational therapy assistants, and speech language pathologists who are interested in best practice standards regarding the Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) approach to assessment and treatment of the young school-age population (5-10 years). The instructor will present evidence based practice that includes analysis of postures and movements that link limitations in functional activities with system impairments, and demonstration of specific treatment strategies used to effectively achieve positive functional outcomes for these school-age children with neuromotor dysfunction. Instruction includes lecture, discussion, videotapes, lab sessions and treatment demonstrations. Participants should plan to wear comfortable clothing for lab sessions.

SESSION 4:
The Pediatric Foot: Assessment and Orthosis Fabrication
When:
Sun, August 30, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Description: This course is designed for the pediatric physical therapist, physical therapy assistant and occupational therapist who treat young children with neuromotor dysfunction, and are challenged by the problems presented clinically by these children’s feet. Course content will include didactic information regarding pediatric developmental orthopedics related to lower extremity and foot development, as well as practical assessment and fabrication of a simple AFO to modify abnormal posturing and enhance the child’s functional control of their feet and lower extremities in weight bearing. Presentation will include lecture, discussion, videotape, and lab session. Class participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice assesssment and treatment of the child’s lower extremity and foot, and fabricate a simple AFO using J&J Delta Lite Flash Cast Elite® casting tape
